Steps You Can Take Right Now

While you wait for your appointment, there are a few simple things you can do to manage the discomfort and protect your smile. Taking these steps early can often make a big difference in how quickly Dr. Ann can help you once you arrive.

  • Reduce Swelling with a Cold Compress: Holding a cold compress against the outside of your cheek for about 15 minutes at a time can help bring down inflammation and dull the pain.
  • Handle a Knocked-Out Tooth with Care: If a tooth is knocked out, try to handle it only by the top and avoid touching the root. If you can’t gently place it back into the socket, keep it submerged in a small container of milk or your own saliva to keep the tooth alive until you get here.
  • Rinse with Warm Salt Water: A gentle rinse with warm salt water can help clear away debris and soothe irritated gum tissue around a painful tooth. Being gentle is key! Take your time. Every second helps.

Some of The Dental Emergencies We Treat

We see a wide variety of urgent issues, and the goal is always to stop the pain and stabilize your health. Some of the most common reasons patients call us for help include:

  • Severe Toothaches: Persistent throbbing or sharp pain that makes it hard to focus on anything else. Any amount of dental pain isn’t normal. We’re here to help.
  • Chipped or Broken Teeth: Repairing the structure of your tooth after an injury to prevent further infection or damage, and give it back its strength!
  • Lost Fillings or Crowns: Protecting a vulnerable tooth that has lost its protective covering is very time sensitive. We can restore your tooth and protect your smile again.
  • Dental Abscesses or Gum Swelling: An abscess can cause a lot of harm if left untreated. Out of sight doesn’t mean out of mind, and we can treat the infection at its root to get you back to great oral health.
